Few of the rumored Vice Presidential picks the now-presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.), could add to his ticket would help him much in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in November, according to a new SurveyUSA poll.

SurveyUSA compiled public opinion figures on sixteen potential ticket match-ups from May 16 and May 18 - before Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) handed Obama a 35 point defeat in Kentucky on May 20 and prior to Obama's attainment of the requisite delegates to clinch the nomination.

The data was released yesterday.

With that said, Obama's numbers in the new poll linger around the 33 percent support he received in an earlier Lexington Herald-Leader match-up poll against presumptive Republican nominee, Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.). In that poll, McCain received 58 percent support.

In the match-ups, McCain is paired with former Massachussetts Governor and primary opponent, Mitt Romney, current Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, independent Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman, and former Arkansas Governor - and another primary opponent - Mike Huckabee.

Obama is matched with Pennsylvannia Governor Ed Rendell, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebilius, retiring Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, and former North Carolina Senator and primary opponent, John Edwards.

Although the poll is based purely on speculation, SurveyUSA did not match Obama with his most combative primary foe, New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

With a margin of error varying from plus or minus four to plus or minus four point one percent on each of the match-ups, few of the results offer any major movements from the 58 to 33 match-up poll between Obama and McCain conducted in mid-may. Nor is their significant movement from the straightforward McCain v. Obama poll included in the newest release from SurveyUSA, which finds McCain pulling 56 percent to Obama's 32 percent in the mid-May data collection.

McCain's lowest result comes in at 50 percent, when matched with Pawlenty against an Obama/Edwards ticket, which collects 38 percent support - Obama's peak among the sixteen measured match-ups.

McCain grabs 59 percent of the vote with Huckabee, when pitted against an Obama/Sebelius ballot - his highest result.

Obama's low is 27 percent, collected with Rendell against McCain and Huckabee, and then again with Hagel, against the same GOP ticket.
