DENVER – While noting that she respects any woman involved in public service, the highest ranking elected woman in the state of Kentucky doubts Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is prepared for the vice presidency.

Noting Palin was the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska just two years ago, state Auditor Crit Luallen (D-Frankfort) asked, "Is she ready to be one step away from being leader of the free world?"

Speaking to PolitickerKY.com, Luallen said she was unsure Palin had the experience for the job.

"I have to question her readiness, her experience, and her leadership expertise," said Luallen.

A former supporter of Sen. Hillary Clnton's (D-N.Y.) presidential bid, Luallen discounted the logic that would find Clinton supporters crossing over to vote for Palin and presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain (R-Ariz.).

"On many of the issues that were important to Clinton supporters, she is the polar opposite," said Luallen, who particularly referenced the issue of abortion and reproductive rights.

Luallen said Clinton supporters who were attracted to Palin because of her gender would soon begin questioning where she stood on policy questions.

"As women are initially drawn to her, they will start asking the tough questions of what does she really stand for?"
