Former Gov. Paul Patton evidently did not agree with a recent Louisville Courier-Journal column that included him among a list of potential Democratic candidates for the 2010 U.S. Senate race.
Political writer Joe Gerth gave 50-to-1 odds for Patton's entry into the race, but Patton told Polwatchers on Wednesday it wasn't even that close.
"Better make that 1,000-1," Patton reportedly said.
Patton, a Pikeville resident, served as Governor from 1995 to 2003. During the 2008 election cycle, he made several campaign appearances on behalf of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford, of Louisville.
U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Southgate) indicated last weekend that he has every intention of seeking a third term in three years.
