Protest of bailout planned for Saturday

As part of a nationwide protest effort against the Federal Reserve and recent economic 'bailout' legislation, demonstrations are scheduled for Saturday in each American city housing a branch of the Federal Reserve Bank – including Louisville.

A coalition of activists under the moniker of “End the Fed” plan to march at 1pm on Saturday starting from the National City Tower in downtown Louisville.

Organizers says the protest is a “public response to the increasing number of bailouts for private companies using taxpayer money.”

“The bailout activity is unacceptable and will harm our nation more than any recovery it promises to provide,” read a release announcing the event.

Demonstrators from around the region are expected by organizers.

Though it is not claimed as an officially-sanctioned event by either the state Libertarian Party or Congressman and former Presidential candiate Ron Paul's (R-Texas) Campaign for Liberty political organization, organizers are affiliated with both those groups.

A website constructed to advertise the event lists Paul among a group of higher-profile supporters, including former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura and anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.
