Latest approval numbers find Bunning and McConnell below 50 percent

Fewer than half of the respondents to a new SurveyUSA poll approve of the jobs both of the Commonwealth's U.S. Senators are doing in Washington, D.C. The latest tracking poll from the firm - conducted between Nov. 21 and 24 - found U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Southgate) with an approval rating of 43 percent while U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Louisville) garnered 47 percent approval, just weeks after clinching re-election to a fifth term.

Though below the fifty percent mark, both figures account for a slight rise in approval from the October tracker for the two legislators. Then, Bunning registered 40 percent approval and McConnell received 44 percent.

Forty-nine percent disapprove of McConnell's performance and 44 percent of Bunning's. Those respondents indicating they were "not sure" of the job performance of the two demonstrated some differences - 13 percent said they were "not sure" about Bunning and just 4 percent said the same of McConnell.

McConnell won re-election after registering 44 percent approvals just 15 days away from the general election this year. Bunning is up for re-election in 2010.
