If you'd seen me before President Obama's speech tonight, you'd have thought I watching a UK Basketball game. I was pumping my fist, smacking my hands together, muttering "Dear God, don't disappoint me."
The speech itself was strong, and while it didn't include everything I wanted (a hardline on the public option; a government-subsidized gambling pool about who cries more, Glen Beck or Tammy-Faye Baker; a mandatory weekly viewing of a Daniel Solzman stand-up routine to show that non-laughter is the best non-medicine) he was genuinely moving in a way he's not been since the campaign ended.
But lost in the post-game analysis (which after all matters more than the speech in these times) was the most significant aspect of his speech: it marks the end of faith in the Bush administration.
