Kentucky: Ben Chandler

November 6, 2009 - 12:53 pm

Calling Ben Chandler...

The Democrats' health care reform bill is being voted on tomorrow (Saturday).

Ben Chandler is still publicly on the fence.

Call him, and tell your friends and family to do the same:

DC office: Phone: (202) 225-4706 | FAX: (202) 225-2122

Lexington office: Phone: (859) 219-1366 | FAX: (859) 219-3437

Ben can either have folks willing to volunteer for him, or he'll be on his own with himself and the insurance industry. His choice....

KDP mingling and uncomfortable questions

OK, I'll pick up where I left off on the KDP rally liveblog on Saturday...

As for the speeches, there wasn't anything specifically noteworthy. What was of note was that each of the speakers didn't just praise Steve Beshear, but they gushed and gushed about him. A little obvious what was going on, and a little more glaring because Dan Mongiardo chose to split right beforehand so he didn't have to go through the awkwardness of this.

When Ben Chandler spoke, a guy standing right next to him at the podium held up a "Fix Healthcare, it's Broken" sign. Which Ben Chandler's free government healthcare probably didn't appreciate.

Hot/Awkward KDP livebloggin/tweeting tomorrow!

I'll be in Lexington tomorrow afternoon at the big KDP rally featuring Steve Beshear, Dan Mongiardo, Jack Conway, Ben Chandler and John Yarmuth.
It starts at 4:00, and should be awkward as hell, what with Dan Mongiardo touting the endorsement of the "SOB" "whore" "worst KY Governor ever" Steve Beshear.
If the wi-fi is working, come here for the live snark. If not, check out the B&P twitterfeed here.

Someone in Media Finally Speaks Truth about Public Option

Can someone make Ben Chandler watch this? I don't know if Ben's an idiot or just a hack, but if Shep can figure it out, it seems like Ben probably could, too.

Blue Dog for sale on Craigslist

Wow. I really thought that Ben Chandler was more discrete.

Thank God for Swing Voters

I'm not going to link to him because I don't take him seriously, but Shack bird-dogged a link and a poll result (or more appropriately, was given it by the Mongiardo camp; why no love here, guys? I feel like I'd be open to considering your line on stuff, especially after the ineptitude that Team Conway showed this week; moving on...) that I need to break down.

SUSA polled for WHAS-TV in 15 counties (assuming the Louisville media market); we don't know when the poll went in the field, or how many voters they called. Only two questions were asked that anybody's bothered to publish:

A new Survey USA poll asked people in the Louisville television market.

Recollections of a Fundraiser of Yore and Thoughts on Son-of-a-Bitchgate

Dan Mongiardo’s fake puritanical outrage over Attorney General Jack Conway’s recent, shocking use of profanity at the Fancy Farm picnic brought back memories for me of a Democratic State Senate Caucus fundraiser that I and several other UK College Democrats attended some years ago. As you will remember, this was two offices ago for Dan Mongiardo, back when he was still a lowly state senator who had recently lost the last race for US Senate against Jim Bunning, and as such he was expected to allow the rest of the caucus and the attendees at the fundraiser to bask in the glow of his political fame.

Fancy Farm 2009: Plastic Spoons and Loons

It was great to be back at Fancy Farm on Saturday, the one-of-a-kind political circus where Kentucky politics tends to show its best and worst aspects every year.

This year's "episode" was largely a showcase of fresh blood from both parties. On the Republican side we had youngster Trey Grayson taking over the reigns from Jim Bunning (though still blatantly puppeted by ole Mitch). For the Democrats, the two youngsters were the squeaky clean MySpace Batman and Ken doll Jack Conway, and the eyebrow waxing hetero-hunting-coal-doctor Dan Mongiardo. Whatever the outcome of the 2010 Senate race, we're pretty much assured that at least 2 of these 3 will be among their party's leaders for the next generation.

It's time to call Ben Chandler again. It's time for a health care public option.

OK folks. Blue Dogs in Congress are currently standing in the way of true health care reform. Whereas Obama, most Democrats, and most of the country want a strong public option to health care to keep the insurance companies in line and guarantee quality care for everyone, the Blue Dogs and their insurance lobby cronies are trying to sabotage it.

It's time for Kentuckians to flood Rep. Ben Chandler's office with calls letting him know that we need real health care reform. Anything less than a strong public option is like putting a band aid on an open chest wound.

Though Chandler is certainly a Blue Dog, he has certainly been less "Blue" in the last year and a half, so this is not a lost cause.

Jack Conway raises $1.325 million in 2nd quarter. Wow.

Impressive. Very impressive.
Conway Raises More Than $1.325 Million for Senate Campaign

"Kentuckians are ready for new leadership," says Jack Conway

Record Breaking: No other Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Kentucky history has raised more money in a quarter.

(Louisville , KY) In an eye-popping effort, Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, candidate for the United States Senate, will report raising more than $1.325 million for the June 30 Federal Election report in his bid to replace incumbent United States Senator Jim Bunning. This is Conway's first quarter of fundraising and represents about 60 days of active fundraising. He held his first large fundraiser on May 30.
