Kentucky: Daniel Mongiardo

LHL not letting "Fuck it All" Gate die

Missed this from yesterday, but the Herald-Leader isn't letting Dan Mongiardo's pathetic "political shenanigans" excuse go.
It's time for Senate candidate Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo to man up.

We're talking about the recordings of him that keep popping up on the Internet. Yes, they were surreptitiously taped, are obviously spliced and have been distributed anonymously. As such, they are both high-tech dirty trick and political comedy in the old Kentucky tradition.

Yet some of Mongiardo's statements, which he has not denied making, are provocative no matter the context.

What did he mean when he said that being Gov. Steve Beshear's lieutenant governor is like "being married to a whore"? Or that "the only difference between (former Gov.

Self-Hating Women for Mongiardo

Here's Mongiardo's email blast from yesterday touting how Democratic women love them some Mongiardo:
FRANKFORT --- The Daniel Mongiardo for U.S. Senate campaign announced today the formation of the Women for Mongiardo committee. An impressive group of women supporters including the Hon. Eleanor Jordan and Virginia L. Woodward hosted the first Women for Mongiardo fundraiser last week. Longtime Democratic activist Patsy Blevins, who was co-chair for the 2007 Beshear-Mongiardo women's campaign, will serve as the Mongiardo campaign's women's organization coordinator.

"Daniel Mongiardo has been a staunch fighter for women's health for as long as I can remember and that's one of the main reasons I'm standing with Daniel," said Blevins.

Kim Geveden spins Mongiardo's awful Rasmussen numbers

Enjoy:
"The Rasmussen poll varies widely from two recent independent polls that show Daniel Mongiardo as the strongest Democrat against Republicans Trey Grayson or Rand Paul. No matter how you slice it, the General Election will be very competitive. The fundamental question for Democratic voters is do they want a Kentucky Democrat like Daniel Mongairdo who reflects their values and who will stand up and fight for Kentucky's working families or a silver spoon Democrat who represents out-of-state interests who neither share Kentucky's values or our priorities? We are confident which one Kentucky voters will choose."

The poll varies from the previous polls because those were before your campaign imploded with the "Fuck it all" video, Kim.

Dan Mongiardo sends southern belles reeling onto their fainting couches all across the Bluegrass

US Senate candidate Dan Mongiardo sent out an email today touting the "support" of Governor Steve Beshear for his candidacy:
The summer may be over, but for us at the campaign it couldn't have ended better. Last week Gov. Steve Beshear joined Daniel for an event in Northern Kentucky where he voiced his strong support of Daniel. Beshear said:

"I'm looking forward to having Daniel Mongiardo as our next United States Senator. He has proven himself time and time again to be a person who not only understands people, but relates to people and is one of the people...He's demonstrated leadership - the kind of leadership we need in Washington.

Take Your Job And Shove It

You know, I think I've been pretty hard on Jack Conway. Compared his Q1 fundraising to W declaring "Mission Accomplished"? Check. Called his press operation a one-trick pony? Check. Ripped him up and down for a weak response to an opponent's contrived reaction to his use of profanity? Check.

The list goes on; the truth is, though, that Conway, for all of his mistakes, has got nothing on Daniel Mongiardo in the "sucking at life" department. He hasn't had to for a couple of months, either, but I'm glad to see that period is coming to an end.

Conway unloads on Mongiardo campaign

Have you been waiting on some signs of life from the Jack Conway campaign? Yea, me too.

Well, wait no longer. Check out this release from the Conway campaign.

Mongiardo's Hypocrisy

Official Host of Event Promises Access and To Have Special Needs Discussed with Governor and Lt. Governor for $1,000

(Louisville – KY) - Dan Mongiardo’s campaign has reached a new height of hypocrisy and raised potential legal and ethics questions with an email sent by the official host of an upcoming Mongiardo fundraiser. In an email to potential contributors, the host said contributors should give $1,000 if they want “access or have special needs that need to be discussed with the Governor and Lt.

Recollections of a Fundraiser of Yore and Thoughts on Son-of-a-Bitchgate

Dan Mongiardo’s fake puritanical outrage over Attorney General Jack Conway’s recent, shocking use of profanity at the Fancy Farm picnic brought back memories for me of a Democratic State Senate Caucus fundraiser that I and several other UK College Democrats attended some years ago. As you will remember, this was two offices ago for Dan Mongiardo, back when he was still a lowly state senator who had recently lost the last race for US Senate against Jim Bunning, and as such he was expected to allow the rest of the caucus and the attendees at the fundraiser to bask in the glow of his political fame.

Deep Thought

If there was a single ounce of Democratic talent in this state, our senior U.S. Senator would be Daniel Mongiardo, capitalizing on the disarray in the RPK after junior U.S. Senator Bruce Lunsford took out the party's leadership in 2008's stunning upset.
What other fallout do you picture from this?Is Steve Beshear still Governor? If he is, who's his LG? Is the state senate flipped? Does Boswell hang on in the 2nd CD?
Discuss. I'll be waiting in the comments.

Paul officially enters race for U.S. Senate

By ROGER ALFORD - Associated Press Writer FRANKFORT — Rand Paul, the son of 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul, ended months of speculation Wednesday by saying he will run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated next year by fellow Republican Jim Bunning. The Bowling Green ophthalmologist told The Associated Press he is entering the race and plans to run as a candidate with “outsider” credentials. Paul had been considering a campaign even before the 77-year-old Bunning announced last week that he intends to retire when his second term ends. Two other Republicans — Secretary of State Trey Grayson and western Kentucky businessman Bill Johnson — have already announced they’re running for Bunning’s seat.
