I hate Connecticut

Joe LIEberman, running for Senate in 2006:

MediChoice to allow anybody in our country to buy into a national insurance pool like the health insurance pool that we federal employees and Members of Congress have. Medical malpractice reform.

It will cover 95% of those who are not covered now, and it will reduce the pressure on rising costs for all the millions of others.
Joe LIEberman today:
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Tuesday that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill.

Lieberman, who caucuses with Democrats and is positioning himself as a fiscal hawk on the issue, said he opposes any health care bill that includes a government-run insurance program — even if it includes a provision allowing states to opt out of the program, as Reid has said the Senate bill will.

Dan Mongiardo is to the right of Dick Cheney

...on marriage. Um... wow?

Dick Cheney rarely takes a position that places him at a more progressive tilt than President Obama. But on Monday, the former vice president did just that, saying that he supports gay marriage as long as it is deemed legal by state and not federal government.

Speaking at the National Press Club for the Gerald R. Ford Foundation journalism awards, Cheney was asked about recent rulings and legislative action in Iowa and elsewhere that allowed for gay couples to legally wed.

"I think that freedom means freedom for everyone," replied the former V.P. "As many of you know, one of my daughters is gay and it is something we have lived with for a long time in our family.

Is Joe Biden This Much Of A Fool, Or Is He A Traitor?

This story appeared this morning on FoxNews.com:

Vice President Joe Biden, well-known for his verbal gaffes, may have finally outdone himself, divulging potentially classified
information meant to save the life of a sitting vice president.

According
to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in
Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite
get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates
about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval
Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.

The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President
Dick Cheney remained under protection in secret after the 9/11 attacks.

JEEZLE PETE! Isn't this guy a liability?

A Short Waltz Down Mayor Newberry Lane

Next month marks the 11th anniversary of Jim Newberry's colossally failed run for United States Congress.

In a 7 person primary field, Jim Newberry would finish a distant fifth. In the process, though, he played one game of politics that would make Dick Cheney blush.

On May 7th, 1998, the candidates for Scotty Beasler's 6th District seat gathered for a KET debate. Newberry showed up knowing his campaign was lost -- so he decided to do something bold, something brash, something belligerently despicable.

The front runner in the race, and the eventual primary winner, was Ernesto Scorsone. With no chance of winning, Jim Newebberry chose to attack his fellow Democrat in the crassest way possible.

KY-2: Financial Expectations from Boswell and Haire Differ Drastically

The campaigns of the Democratic contenders for the open 2nd Congressional District – state Senator David Boswell (D-Sorgho) and Daviess County Judge/Executive Reid Haire – each offered a different set of expectations for their fundraising efforts this quarter.

"We should have three to four times the amount raised by our primary opponent," said Tim Shock, campaign manager for Reid Haire. "We are going to have a huge amount of contributors. When we release the report, there won't be any doubt who the nominee needs to be and is going to be."
