Kentucky: Fec

KY Senate race FEC reports are out

Jake has the whole lowdown here.

Some highlights:

  • Grayson and Paul are in a virtual dead heat in fundraising.
  • Almost all of Rand Paul's donations are from out of state. From White Male Liberty Patriots.
  • The entire Republican establishment is lining up behind Grayson.
  • Dan Mongiardo is dead last in fundraising, and is $1.2 million in debt. Which obviously means that he's totally kicking ass.

I'll pour through em soon and see if there's anything else of note, but check out the whole thing for now.

Sunday afternoon Deep Thoughts

I can't wait to take a look at Rand Paul's FEC donor list when it comes out, so I can compare it to the Southern Poverty Law Center's "list" that they have compiled.

Shall be a fun day of mix-and-match, indeed....

Friends of Coal, Friends of Mongiardo

I just got word of a fancy concert being put on by Dan Mongiardo's favorite band, Sean Hannity, Ted Nugent and Hank "Embarrassment to His Family's Name" Williams Jr. in West Virginia on Labor Day.

Check out the sponsor page. It's basically a run down of Dan Mongiardo's FEC donor list... about every mountaintop removal pertpetrator on earth.

Oh, but here's the real kicker:

The Rally is going to be held on a previous surface mine, just south of Logan, West Virginia. You see!!! Lt. Dan was right! Mountaintop removal really IS a positive, because it creates flat land that you can hold right-wing rallies on!

If you stop by the concert, look for Lt. Dan. He'll be riding around on an ATV collecting donations for his campaign.

GATA, Page One

(For the slang-illiterate)

Jacob Payne, doing what the Conway campaign should have done Monday morning. The best defense is a good offense:

Let’s talk about judgment for a moment.

Remember the illegal DANPAC?

Remember getting kicked off the two committees upon which he built his entire campaign?

Remember losing his State Senate seat immediately after being elected Lt. Governor because he was entirely weak in his own district?

Remember the time he shouted at the Kentucky Young Democrats that an atom bomb was going to go off and everyone would move beneath the Louisville zoo?

Remember the time he built and pushed SB 245 and then spent five years trying to pretend he had nothing to do with it?

Remember that night he spent in a hotel room with College Democrats?

Remember that time he got a job for a young lady named Courtney he allegedly once had a relationship with?

Remember that time he got dumped by powerful and awe-inspiring radio queen Francene in a very public way for being totally jacked up?

Remember that time he bought alcohol at a public event for his underage then-girlfriend?

Remember that time he was fined by the Federal Election Commission for violating campaign finance law by lying about his the amount of his debt?

Remember that time at last year’s Wendell Ford Dinner when he praised Glenn Beck and said he was a fan?

Remember that time while debating Robbie Rudolph he said gay people shouldn’t be allowed to provide health insurance benefits for their domestic partners?

Remember all the occasions he’s promoted mountaintop removal?

Remember the time he was so embarrassingly dumb that LEO called him intellectually lazy?

Remember that time he appeared on The Tonight Show with some Hooters girls and totally embarrassed the Commonwealth by knowing nothing?

Remember that time he let his campaign staff kick Diane Brumback out of an event?

Remember the embarrassing interview he did with Joe Sonka that Jim Pence continues to hide?

Remember the time he stood laughing behind Ernesto Scorsone during the SB 245 debacle?

Remember all the times - during this campaign - that the FEC has launched inquiries into his behavior?

Remember that he’s accepting a monthly housing allowance?

Remember when he posed with a group of pro-lifers during this very Democratic primary?

Remember the time he let his incompetent campaign manager have his entire campaign strategy, budget and plan leaked?

Yeah.

Fun with Mongiardo's 2nd quarter FEC disbursements

Got my hands on the report, and it confirms everything that was leaked to Jake from the campaign this weekend.

Here's the trainwreck funny:

  • Fundraising Managment Group was paid over $30,000... to raise a pitiful $300k. But hey, they didn't have much to work with.
  • Bluegrass Mailing received $18,000 for their services. Who are they? Oh, just another non-Union company. Well, just another non-Union company that worked for Mitch McConnell's campaign last year. Niiiiice.
  • Kim Geveden actually got paid!!!!!!!! But only around $1,800 a month. Still, that debt got slightly smaller... congrats, Kim!!!
  • CarryOn Interactive was given $1,000 for website development services. Who are they? Well, they are based in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.

If it looks like it and smells like it, it probably is...

Now that we've got some tangible numbers to work with on all sides of the 2010 Senate primaries (well, we'll have to wait until the full FEC reports come out to get the real story behind each candidate's fundraising), I thought it might be a good time to revisit some of the more ridiculous claims made by everyone's favorite increasingly irrelevant DINO blogger and Lt. Dan shill. It's unfortunate that someone can spout their mouth off continuously, but continue to be wrong on nearly every account.

For months on end now, the charity boxer has been building Lt. Dan up...
"[Mongiardo] has a half million on any other potential Democratic candidate.

Mongiardo campaign appears to be imploding

It's officially a week since Kim Geveden said that Dan Mongiardo would be releasing his 2nd quarter fundraising numbers and, well, we're still waiting. Is he really going to just make us count them all ourselves once the FEC posts them next week? Lame...

But in the meantime, Jake brings home the internal rumors that the "GOP Lite" campaign is falling apart at the seems:

We mentioned it yesterday, but let’s rehash it again. Lee Murphy, an advisor and friend to Mongiardo, has departed from the campaign. He allegedly had it out with the Lt. Governor in front of campaign staff over the issue of health care.

Jack Conway raises $1.325 million in 2nd quarter. Wow.

Impressive. Very impressive.
Conway Raises More Than $1.325 Million for Senate Campaign

"Kentuckians are ready for new leadership," says Jack Conway

Record Breaking: No other Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Kentucky history has raised more money in a quarter.

(Louisville , KY) In an eye-popping effort, Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, candidate for the United States Senate, will report raising more than $1.325 million for the June 30 Federal Election report in his bid to replace incumbent United States Senator Jim Bunning. This is Conway's first quarter of fundraising and represents about 60 days of active fundraising. He held his first large fundraiser on May 30.

Good help is hard to find, Kim Geveden isn't

Yes, good help is hard to find, but fortunately for Dan Mongiardo, incompetent help will work for you for free, even when you still owe him $18,000 from 5 years ago.

That's right, Mongiardo's FEC report reveal that our favorite here at B&P still isn't getting paid.

Endless comedy...

Mongiardo's campaign stocking is full of (King) Coal

Dan Mongiardo's first FEC filing is out, and here's a big shocker: it's full of coal company executive donors!

Yea, not exactly shocking. But it goes further than that. Much Further.

The International Coal Group (ICG) had all of its executives pitch in big money to Dr. Dan, 15 in total. Why is ICG so big on Mongiardo?

Well, lets take a look at what happened right after the EPA announcement last month that they will crack down on mountaintop removal sites and the destruction that they cause to water in the area. As we mentioned back then, Dan Mongiardo spent the next 24 hours frantically calling folks in D.
