Ky. lawmakers linked to lobbying firm under investigation

WASHINGTON — Several Kentucky lawmakers, including Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Versailles, helped secure millions in earmarks for clients of PMA, a lobbying firm under federal investigation for contributing to the campaigns of Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., and other lawmakers.

According to data compiled by the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense and analyzed by Congressional Quarterly, Chandler helped PMA clients net $2.4 million in defense earmarks. Rep. Geoff Davis, R-Hebron, helped the firm's clients receive $6.8 million in earmarks.

KY Delegation on auto industry bailout: 3 ayes, 3 noes

The federal government's bailout of the auto industry cleared its first hurdle last night, passing the U.S. House on a vote of 237 to 170.

Kentucky's delegation split on the bill, with three U.S. Reps. breaking for it and three against:

District 1 - Ed Whitfield (R-Hopkinsville) - NO

District 2 - Ron Lewis (R-Cecilia) - YES

District 3 - John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) - YES

District 4 - Geoff Davis (R-Hebron) - NO

District 5 - Hal Rogers (R-Somerset) - NO

District 6 - Ben Chandler (D-Versailles) - YES

Davis joins Bush for West Point visit

West Point graduate and U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis (R-Hebron) accompanied President Bush and U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) on Air Force One yesterday for a visit to his alma mater.

"It's my honor to let them fly on the ‘big bird,'" Bush said of the two alumni, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The three flew to the New York-based military academy where Bush addressed about 1,100 senior cadets.

KY-4: Davis' second spot focuses on manufacturing jobs

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis (R-Ft. Mitchell) hit district-wide television in recent days with an ad in Kentucky's 4th Congressional District race.

The ad focuses on a testimonial from Rick Jordan, the Vice President of Erlanger's LSI Graphic Solutions company and a board member for the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers.

"When I sat down and I talked to Geoff Davis, He was the first person I talked to that really understood the manufacturing issues," says Jordan in the spot.

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis (R-Ft. Mitchell) has taken its charges against its opponent, physician Michael Kelley (D-Lagrange), and thrown them on a multimedia website.

Therealmichaelkelley.com looks to be an effort to push the Davis camp's argument that Kelley should not be considered a "serious candidate."
