Kentucky: Grayson

Rand Paul: lying flip flopper

It seems that Rand Paul, now finding himself ahead in the polls, is going to go conservative by scrubbing his "kooky" positions from the internet tubes.
Facing heat from Grayson about his Guantanamo stance (which he shared with his father), it appears that he is now scrubbing his past positions and taking the Neanderthal view that New Yorkers should not be able to try, convict and executive the pyscho fuckers who attacked their city. Gitmo is now AOK, dontcha know?
I can't wait till all of the Paul Stoners to realize that he won't advocate legalizing pot, or withdrawing all of our troops, either.
Just another fetus fetisher that wants to eliminate Medicare, Medicaid, public schools, Social Security, and let his Magic Unicorn Hoof solve all of our messy complicated problems.
Yes, we can "read" (through the lines)...

Mitch and Trey make a deal?

The pure entertainment over in the Republican Senate primary of Kentucky just got even more fun. In the aftermath of the interesting meeting uncovered between Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, comes this juicy paragraph from a Wall Street Journal story about the rift in the Republican Party between the Teabaggers and Republican leadership (i.e. Mitch McConnell, because he's such a Commie happily riding on the Obama Train to tyranny) :
Mr. Grayson said he was confident that primary voters in Kentucky know him as a "true conservative." He said he speaks regularly with Mr. McConnell, but that he is not shy about criticizing him, particularly on the financial system bailout.

Joel Pett takes on the anti-choicers

This one goes out to Chandler, Mongiardo, Paul, Grayson, and every other politician that wants to take away or chip away at a woman's right to choose.

Trey Grayson getting desperate, starting to hit back at Rand Paul

With his primary poll numbers looking awful, Trey Grayson is not only trying to move to the far right, he's starting to directly go after Rand Paul. In the aftermath of Rand requesting to "meet with" Mitch McConnell, Rand answered that he doesn't know if he'd support Mitch McConnell as Minority Leader. This is after months and months of veiled swipes at McConnell for being such a big gubmit librul with the bailouts, and Grayson for being his little protege.

Grayson's response:
Florence, Kentucky – Secretary of State Trey Grayson commented today on an interview Rand Paul did with WHAS-11’s Joe Arnold in which Paul refused to say if he would support Mitch McConnell as Republican Leader of the U.

Did God teabag America?

Rand Paul's campaign manager sez so:
Now is the time to fight back harder than ever to restore America to our God-given greatness and that's why Rand Paul's platform of balanced federal budgets and freedom, capitalism, and real job creation is catching on.Meanwhile, the Grayson crowd keeps up with the "kooky" theme:
On the way out, one fellow fervently waving a Ron Paul sign could be heard mumbling something about black helicopters and the Kennedy assassination.Oh, don't forget about the ACORN census workers herding us into those FEMA concentration camps, either.

Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell is afraid to step foot in this state, because he's a damned dirty librul soshalist. And the NRSC is, too.

Stock up on popcorn, Kentucky.

Polls, polls, polls...

Some crosstab madness from the SUSA polling goodness yesterday:

First, on the Republican primary side

Rand Paul- 35
Trey Grayson- 32
Other/Undecided- 33

Gender-wise, Paul leads 40-32 among Male Liberty Patriots, Grayson leads 33-29 among females.

Among young voters, Paul had a crazy-high advantage in the last SUSA poll, but now trails 43-40. Odd.

Among conservatives (69% of respondents), Paul leads 39-31, but is losing huge among moderates. This falls more in line with what I think will happen (the last SUSA was the opposite, if I recall correctly), as Rand Paul is much much much more conservative (both economically and socially) than Trey Grayson.

Regionally, Grayson takes Western KY and Louisville, while Paul takes Eastern, Central and Northern KY.

Let the KY Republican pie fight commence

Grab the popcorn, kiddies.

Trey Grayson fans call Rand Paul kooky, claim he supports legalizing heroin, cocaine and child porn, and doing away with the tyrannical oppression of Amber Alerts and the FDA (Paul is objectively pro-diarrhea, fyi)

White Male Liberty Patriots jump in the comments, ranting about Grayson's Bill Clinton love and him maintaining Obama's tyranny agenda.

Crazy feathers fly.

7 more months of this fun, to come.

PS: only one thing could make this more fun. A third pie thrower.

KY Senate race FEC reports are out

Jake has the whole lowdown here.

Some highlights:

  • Grayson and Paul are in a virtual dead heat in fundraising.
  • Almost all of Rand Paul's donations are from out of state. From White Male Liberty Patriots.
  • The entire Republican establishment is lining up behind Grayson.
  • Dan Mongiardo is dead last in fundraising, and is $1.2 million in debt. Which obviously means that he's totally kicking ass.

I'll pour through em soon and see if there's anything else of note, but check out the whole thing for now.

Conway campaign smacks Mongiardo upside the head

Check out the juicy juice from their new press release.

On Mongiardo's last place in fundraising and the polls (to Conway, Grayson, and Paul):
“It is hard to spin being dead last. They can spin, blame and point fingers, but the fact remains that Dan Mongiardo is last in money and last in polls,” added Riddle. "One must wonder when the Mongiardo campaign gets dizzy from all their spinning."
Ouch.
Mongiardo has spent weeks hiding from the press because he refuses to answer questions regarding what he said about the Governor. It is time for Mongiardo to “man up” as the Herald Leader editorialized.
Yep.
80% of Jack Conway’s fundraising comes from Kentuckians.

Rasmussen Poll: very bad news for Dan Mongiardo

Not only is Trey Grayson kicking his ass, but so is Rand Paul?
Grayson- 44%Mongiardo- 37%
Paul- 43%Mongiardo- 38%
Prettttty lame, Milhouse.
Meanwhile, Jack Conway fares much better:
Grayson- 40%Conway- 40%
Paul- 38%Conway- 42%
We all anxiously await Kim Geveden's spin on this one...
