You all know about the huge firestorm I have created here recently so I will not rehash any of it. However, some misconceptions about me and the work I have done here have come up that I will not allow to be unanswered. So, follow on and I think you will all get what you want.
First, in regards to the attack on me for my writing for Heather Ryan's campaign, I WAS authorized by that campaign to blog for her on a state and national basis. I spoke with her almost daily during that campaign, so when I referred to things I was writing about that campaign as "we" and "our" I was justified as I had voluteered to write those blogs to try and fundraise and raise awarenesss for her.

KET says FCC rules require airing of Whitfield statement

An official from Kentucky Educational Television has said that federal regulations require the network to air a recorded statement from U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Hopkinsville) tonight in conjunction with the network's 1st Congressional District debate at which Whitfield will not appear.

As the network noted, Whitfield's opponent - Heather Ryan (D-Paducah) - did confirm for the event.

Updated: Whitfield declines invite to KY-1 forum; Ryan says she will attend

A spokesperson from Kentucky Educational Television confirmed that U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Hopkinsville) declined the invitation to the network's 1st Congressional District forum scheduled for Oct. 13.

Whitfield's opponent, Heather Ryan (D-Paducah), released a statement today declaring she would still attend the forum.

Whitfield will stay in his district during RNC week

MINNEAPOLIS – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Hopkinsville) will not be joining Kentucky’s Republican delegation in St. Paul this week for his party’s national convention.

A spokesperson from Whitfield’s Washington office indicated the Congressman will be travelling in his 1st Congressional District throughout convention week.

Whitfield was initially selected as an “at-large” delegate to this week’s event at the state Republican convention in June.

KY-1: Ryan opening HQ in Paducah

1st Congressional District candidate Heather Ryan will open a campaign heaquarters in Ryan's hometown of Paducah next week - the first the campaign will have in the district.

Saturday's Fancy Farm picnic kicks off general election season

The 128th annual Fancy Farm picnic is scheduled for this Saturday, and legions of Kentucky's politicians and political junkies are headed to western Kentucky for the event's uniquely participatory political forum. With November's general election looming, some politicians have been hyping their speeches at the event for months, but the news that U.S. Senators Mitch McConnell (R-Louisville) and Jim Bunning (R-Southgate) may not be attending could put a damper on the potentially rowdy affair.
