Kentucky: Hillary Clinton

Makin' Hearthands for HRC

You know, I did not care for how she ran her presidential campaign and therefore I ultimately didn't vote for her, but I really love me some Hillary Clinton, who had this to say during her trip to Congo:
My husband is not secretary of state, I am.While the whole exchange seems to have been a misunderstanding due to things not quite translating, and even though the whole article basically goes on and on about what an uptight bitch the Secretary of State is, I still heartily applause her handling of the matter.

Recollections of a Fundraiser of Yore and Thoughts on Son-of-a-Bitchgate

Dan Mongiardo’s fake puritanical outrage over Attorney General Jack Conway’s recent, shocking use of profanity at the Fancy Farm picnic brought back memories for me of a Democratic State Senate Caucus fundraiser that I and several other UK College Democrats attended some years ago. As you will remember, this was two offices ago for Dan Mongiardo, back when he was still a lowly state senator who had recently lost the last race for US Senate against Jim Bunning, and as such he was expected to allow the rest of the caucus and the attendees at the fundraiser to bask in the glow of his political fame.

Waking up the Mongiardo camp from their wet dream

Unsurprisingly, Dr. Dan's stable of lunatics are foaming at the mouth over their internal polling that puts him up big over Jack Conway. I can let Jack Conway's people speak for themselves, and Jake has already put his finger on how faulty Dr. Dan's logic really is. So I won't rehash how easy it is for a bunch of whackjob amateur politicos who live in their in-laws' basement to blow a shitty poll out of proportion.

Instead, I'll refer you to the historic evidence (and the other historic evidence)...like, oh, say, how Barack Obama was trailing Hillary Clinton by 15 points in Iowa just 10 months before the caucus that he won by 9 points, where Hillary posted third behind Mr.

Loans, self-financing, and Streisand: The last month of fundraising in the 2008 Senate race

While U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Louisville) ultimately secured a fifth term by beating millionaire businessman Bruce Lunsford by six points, the race unexpectedly drew national attention and - as fundraising data from the last month of the campaign shows - money from high-profile national backers in both parties.

Potential 2010 candidates abundant at Clinton rally

LOUISVILLE - U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) said the line-up of speakers that preceded her at today's rally for Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford in Louisville was an "all-star" one. Among the high-profile Democrats who spoke were several rumored potential candidates who may be eyeing a Senate run next time around, in 2010.

U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Southgate) currently holds the seat up for election in two years. He last secured the seat in 2004, narrowly beating out now-Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo (D-Hazard).

Clinton frames McConnell as a Bush ally during Louisville appearance

LOUISVILLE - Calling U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Louisville) the "chief obstructionist in the United States Senate," U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) rallied last minute support for businessman Bruce Lunsford's (D-Louisville) and had few kind words for the four-term incumbent at an afternoon event today.

"He stands in the way of most of the agenda that will help make life better in Kentucky," said Clinton of McConnell.

Hillary headed back to Kentucky for Lunsford

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) will return to Kentucky this Sunday for a second campaign swing on behalf of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford, of Louisville.

Though specifics are not yet available, Clinton will be visiting Hazard and Louisville on November 2, according to the Lunsford campaign.

The Senator from New York earlier campaigned in Lexington and Pikeville for Lunsford. Clips from her earlier visit were assembled into a new ad from the Lunsford campaign that began airing today.

Lunsford recruits bloodhounds and Hillary - among others - for ad blitz

The infamous bloodhounds are back in a Kentucky Senate race, though this time on the Democratic side. One of four new ads from the campaign of Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford (D-Louisville) borrows heavily from a spot his opponent - U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Louisville) - ran in his first Senate campaign in 1984.

Like McConnell's spot then, one of Lunsford's new ads finds a look-a-like of the opponent being chased across various country landscapes and a kitchen - said to be "running from his record" - before ending up in a tree.

Obama camp's presence in Kentucky differs for general election contest

With polls showing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) lagging behind U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the Commonwealth, Obama’s presidential campaign infrastructure in Kentucky will be scaled back from the heights it reached around the May 20 primary.

Then, embroiled in a nomination battle with U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Obama’s camp opened more than 15 field offices across the state in towns rarely touched by national campaign efforts.
