Kentucky: Jim Gray

Pizzabagger Recruitment Drive

We here at B&P would very much like a certain candidate to run for public office, and would like to encourage you to give this candidate the public support that will push them into the race.

But unlike Jim Gray, we only want this one for the shits and giggles.

I present to you: the Mica Sims for Political Office Facebook page! (no, I didn't create this, and whoever did wasn't joking)

I encourage everyone to join up and write on her wall, telling her how we need brave Pizzabagger Patriots like herself in public office, there to protect our children from Barack Hussein Obama's radical Commie-Islamic agenda of enslavement to the One World Order.

Get swinging into action!

Mayor Newberry's CentrePointe Legacy, by the numbers

Hayward Wilkirson, head of Preserve Lexington, served up a splendid op-ed in the Monday edition of the Herald-Leader.

He lays out four very simple policy changes that could and should be implemented now based on lesons we've learned from the CentrePointe non-velopment and be sure to check those out in detail.

He also gives us a Harper's Index, of sorts, a comprehensive run down of the Webbs' lies, Mayor Newberry's collusion, and the sad history of this ridiculous project:

■ 599 days since Newberry, developer Dudley Webb and Harold Tate of the Downtown Development Authority unveiled plans for CentrePointe, claiming it would be open in time for the WEG.

Lexington Airport thieves soon headed to the slammer

Excellent news this morning, as 4 of the corrupt thieves who looted us at the Lexington Airport have been indicted:
Former Blue Grass Airport executive director Michael A. Gobb and three of his managers were indicted on felony theft charges Tuesday. The charges stem from hundreds of thousands of dollars in questionable expenses the four men billed to the airport.

***

Gobb faces nine theft charges. Also charged were John Rhodes, the former director of administration and finance, with six charges; John Coon, the airport's former director of operations, and John P. Slone, who was director of planning and development, with one each. The airport board forced the four men to resign last winter.

Lexington Mayor's Race: Eric Patrick Marr

A new candidate has joined current Mayor Jim Newebberry and former Mayor Teresa Isaac in the 2010 Mayoral race:

Eric Patrick Marr notified the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance on Wednesday that he intends to be a candidate in the Lexington mayor's race in 2010.

Marr, 36, a native Lexingtonian, said he decided to run for mayor because when he returned in 2007 after being gone for 16 years, "I discovered Lexington was invisible and irrelevant on the national scene."

There's more about Eric at his campaign website.

In related news, Jim Gray remains coyly silent... but certainly it's only a matter of time.

Goodbye, Dame

From Smiley Pete comes the final word on The Dame's unsuccessful relocation attempt.

Money quote:

The Dame moved into the Main Street Live location on Oct. 3rd, of last year after vacating its original location in June of 2008 to make way for the yet to be constructed CentrePointe project.

"Yet to be constructed." That's an understatement. When will Jim Gray jump into this mayoral race and give the people of Lexington the opportunity to voice their opposition to the downtown mudpit that has now officially put a beloved venue out of business? May the Dame rest in peace.

While Dudley fails, Gray rocks

Failed developer Dudley Webb is really good at building (or not building) epic failures that ultimately turn into blights for the city of Lexington and have to be bailed out with their tax dollars.

On the other hand, successful developers/businessmen like Jim Gray actually build projects that not only create real jobs (not Fraggle jobs), but actually add value to society. Like this one:

Lexington-based Gray Construction has been hired to design, engineer and oversee the expansion of building that will become an assembly plant for a startup automotive company.

V-Vehicle has the backing of venture capitalist Kleiner Perkins and former Texas oil magnate T.

What in the world is Teresa Isaacs thinking?

I've been holding off on this post for a while, because I was almost waiting for Teresa Isaacs to come clean with us that she was only joking about running for mayor of Lexington in 2010.

But, as I can see from this fundraising event on Facebook, she is apparently serious about running again.

First of all, let me say that I have nothing personal at all against Teresa Isaacs. I voted for her against Newberry in 2006, and if given the choice of Newberry or Isaacs in 2010, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat.

But let's just take a step back and look at the reality on the ground in Lexington of 2009.

HOODWINKED

Today was a VERY SPECIAL day at the LFUCG. Dudley Webb was kind enough to visit and take questions from the Council, and it's little surprise that he is STILL trying to scapegoat people for his giant CentrePointe FAILURE.

And Dudley (as our IP address hits reveal) is apparently a big Barefoot and Progressive fan:
"This became a cause célèbre for editorial writers, columnists, bloggers, public officials, rumormongers and others," Webb said, adding that he will not "continue to respond to this negativism."
Negative?!? Who could be negative about what a fantastic success Dudley's Ditch is?!? He deserves nothing but love and admiration, like Councilman George Myers gave him, as he told Dudley to "keep doing what your doing".

LFUCG ripping Dudley Webb right now

Watch it live here.

I'm going to go back over the people tweeting it and pull some goodies. I hear Newberry ripped "the bloggers".

More to come...

UPDATE: Jim Gray just told Dudley Webb that he hoodwinked the town. (!!!!!!)

UPDATE #2: Dudley Webb: "my mistake was being TOO HONEST for the people" (?!?!?!??!?) What a douchebag....

Webb also just said that "the heavyweights of the world" were funding CentrePointe. (?!?!?!??!)

Newberry's Forces Circling the Wagons?

As previously noted, Vice Mayor Jim Gray took the Webbs and Mayor Jim Newberry to task yesterday over that giant gaping hole they call "CentrePointe." In response, Newberry meekly acquiesced, saying he'd do his best to bring the Webbs before the council to answer for this mess.

Eric Patrick Marr has another good angle on yesterday's fireworks, noting that Newberry isn't the only one in city government abrogating his civic leadership duties:

While everyone focused on Gray's (needed) demand for a Centrepoint status report, sidewalk restoration and some green grass - the REAL story came after he finished.

The real story of Old Lex vs.
