Northup concedes, doubts a future political run

Speaking to reporters after delivering her concession speech tonight, former U.S Rep. Anne Northup (R-Louisville) said she isn't likely to seek political office in the future.

"I don't anticipate any campaigns in the future," said Northup.

Northup expected to address crowd soon

LOUISVILLE -- Former U.S. Rep. Anne Northup (R-Louisville) will apparently address the crowd here at the Galt House in Louisville shortly.

Presently, with 42 percent of precincts in the 3rd Congressional District reporting, she is behind 43 to 57 to incumbent U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Louisville).

The other buzz around the GOP election night party is that close races are expected in both the 2nd Congressional District and the U.S. Senate race, with top Republicans saying returns in swing areas not yet available to the media are favoring their candidates.

Northup and Yarmuth rally last-minute support

While the latest polls show a double-digit lead for U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) over Anne Northup (R-Louisville), Northup spent part of her election day campaigning around Louisville in a trolley.

Voting at her precinct earlier this morning, the former Republican Congresswoman's campaign sounded upbeat and categorized the response to Northup's efforts as "very positive."

Northup plans to be at election night festivities at the Galt House Hotel this evening.

LOUISVILLE -- Should it come down to it, a candidate for office does not want it to be their own vote that cost them an election, so candidates across Kentucky are not suprisingly hitting the ballot boxes to exercise their own right to vote at local precincts befor scrambling for last minute votes.

Latest Yarmuth ad touts first-term awards

The campaign of U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) launched a new television ad this week outlining a series of awards the freshman incumbent received during his first term in Congress.

"John was named ‘best representative for kids,'" says a narrator as a shot of Yarmuth pushing a child on a swing is displayed.

That designation came from a list compiled by the Children's Defense Fund.

Northup highlights flood prevention as accomplishment of her time in Congress

LOUISVILLE - Former U.S. Rep. Anne Northup (R-Louisville) held her third press conference focusing on a issue specific to Jefferson County today, meeting with reporters in southwest Louisville to discuss what she said were her accomplishments with regard to flood prevention in the area.

Northup said projects she pushed while in Congress helped stifle potential flooding in the area and re-designated the homes of 40,000 people as outside of the area's "flood plain."
