Echoing the earlier sentiments of Senator Mitch McConnell, the top Republicans in Kentucky touted their favored candidates and issues while ripping into Democrats during speeches at the 4th District Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner on Saturday.

A spokesperson from the campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford confirmed this afternoon that Lunsford contributed an amount to his own campaign sufficient enough to trigger the "millionaire's amendment" in the first fundraising quarter.

In Kentucky, candidates who contribute more than $559,000 to their own campaign enact the provisions of that legislation. Once that threshold is reached, contribution limits for indvidual donors to opponents' campaigns are increased to $6,300 per election cycle.

The campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford responded this evening to a release from the campaign of Lunsford's primary opponent, Greg Fischer. Fischer's camp attacked Lunsford today on charges of wrong-doing in Lunsford's business history.

Kentucky's airwaves continue to be bombarded with advertisements in the U.S. Senate race, as Bruce Lunsford launched a second commercial today in his bid to unseat incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell. This ad - entitled "Real World" - represents an escalation for Lunsford's campaign, as he explicitly references McConnell and his Senate career during the 30-second ad, unlike in his previous productions. In "Real World," Lunsford briefly discusses his history as a tobacco farmer, businessman, and member of the National Guard before mentioning McConnell.
