Kentucky: Minnesota

Meanwhile, somewhere in Minnesota, Tubby Smith is busy being classy

Quite a day for ex-UK coaches...

First, Rick Pitino angrily demands that the press go out and dig up dirt on the woman that accused him of rape.

Late, last night, good ole Billy G took an encore:

Former University of Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie was arrested early Thursday in Anderson County. Lawrenceburg Police said Gillispie was pulled over in a white 2009 Mercedes with Texas tags around 2:45 a.m. on US 127 after someone reported seeing the car driving erratically. Gillispie was arrested and charged with DUI.

We're told Gillispie refused to take a breathalizer or blood alcohol test.

NRA defeated, no thanks to some new Democratic Senators

In between the Birthers going mainstream, Sarah Palin speaking in beat poetry, and Senator Beanball finally deciding to call in a reliever, overlooked was an unsuccessful effort by the NRA that's rather mind-blowing: John Thune wanted to force every state in the country to recognize the gun laws of Texas and Alaska.

Seriously... the same Republican Party that screams Socialism! and Tyranny! at the first sign of the federal government... you know... existing, had one of its bright young stars introduce a bill designed to overturn state laws.

Now why would they do that? Oh, right...

When this amendment went down, it was the first time in five years that the NRA didn’t get what it wanted.

Does Lt. Dan not understand the irony?

Per his latest campaign tweet, Lt. Dan is excited that Minnesota finally has its second senator in Al Franken.
I can't help but wonder why Lt. Dan is so excited, considering he has more in common with Norm Coleman than Al Franken. In the 2008 campaign, Al Franken made supporting a renewable energy future for America a priority, and will provide the crucial 60th Democrat in the Senate in order to bring forth a vote on cap-and-trade. Lt. Dan, for what it's worth, wouldn't be voting for cap-and-trade were he in the Senate today.

Al Franken campaigned in favor of the rights of workers to unionize without interference from corporate bosses.
