Weaver set to challenge SH-26 results in state House

It appears the race for the 26th state House district will now be thrown into the hands of the Democratically-controlled state House, as Democrat Mike Weaver, of Elizabethtown, will reportedly challenge the election results of his bid against state Rep. Tim Moore (R-Elizabethtown), according to the Associated Press.

Moore denounces potential challenges to SH-26 result

State Rep. Tim Moore (R-Elizabethtown) says further challenges to the results in his re-election bid against Mike Weaver (D-Elizabethtown) would "undermine the very system of democratic elections."

"The election is valid by any stretch of the imagination," Moore told PolitickerKY.com today.

SH-26: Weaver camp questions votes from an entire precinct

The campaign of state House candidate Mike Weaver (D-Elizabethtown) argues an entire precinct's worth of votes was subject to illegal handling and should be thrown out, according to WHAS-TV's Mark Hebert.

With Weaver down by 108 votes to state Rep. Tim Moore (R-Elizabethtown), those votes could swing the 26th state House district to Weaver's favor, as the Pine Valley precinct in question went to Moore by several hundred votes.

Deadline passes, SD-23 and SH-26 to be recanvassed tommorrow

Today's 4pm deadline for requesting a recanvass of general election results has passed.

Recanvasses will be conducted tommorrow morning in areas where requested.

Among several city council and judicial races to be recanvassed, the contests in state House district 26 and state Senate district 23 will also be recanvassed.

A recanvass is essentially a check of the math utilized in tabulating vote totals.

Recanvasses should be completed by tomorrow afternoon.

SH-26: Weaver requests recanvass

The Elizabethtown News-Enterprise reports state House candidate Mike Weaver (D-Elizabethtown) has officially requested a recanvass for his race against state Rep. Tim Moore (R-Elizabethtown).

Such a request was expected last week by the Secretary of State's office. With all precincts reporting, Weaver is currently shown down by 108 votes to Moore.
