Yarmuth addresses Burch's allegation on Obama endorsement

Last week, state Representative Thomas Burch (D-Louisville) suggested a donation from Illinois Senator Barack Obama's Hope Fund PAC to 3rd District Congressman John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) may have contributed to Yarmuth's endorsement of Obama for President.

“I found out my local Congressman got $2,500 from Obama,” Burch said. “I wonder: did he pay that to get an endorsement?”

Obama campaign to Burch: 'Ridiculous'

A spokesperson from the campaign of Senator Barack Obama responded concisely this evening to comments by State Representative Thomas Burch (D-Louisville).

During the Wednesday grand opening of Hillary Clinton campaign headquarters in Louisville, Burch - a Jefferson County co-Chair for the campaign - suggested donations from Obama to 3rd District Congressman John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) may have encouraged Yarmuth's endorsement of the Illinois Senator.

Burch: ‘Clinton and Obama are being too nice to each other’

Among the elected officials at the opening of Hillary Clinton’s state headquarters was state Rep. Thomas Burch (D-Louisville). Burch will serve as a co-chair for Clinton’s campaign in Jefferson County. He expressed some dismay with the state of the primary race, arguing the two Democratic campaigns were not doing enough to expose each other’s vulnerabilities prior to the general election.

Burch wonders if Obama bought Yarmuth’s superdelegate vote

The co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s campaign in Jefferson County, state Rep. Thomas Burch (D-Louisville), is asking if a campaign contribution from Brack Obama’s PAC earned Obama one of Kentucky’s superdelegates.

While noting he would support whichever candidate won the nomination, Burch said he was disappointed that 3rd District Congressman – and Kentucky superdelegate - John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) had endorsed Senator Obama.

Burch suggested a 2008 donation from Obama’s Hope Fund PAC to Yarmuth’s campaign may have contributed to that support.

Senator Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign opened the doors on a Kentucky headquarters Wednesday evening, thirty four days before the Commonwealth’s May 20 primary. Around 100 supporters turned out to the see the Louisville office officially get designation as the nerve center for Clinton's Kentucky operations.
