Kentucky: Trey Grayson

Trey Grayson getting desperate, starting to hit back at Rand Paul

With his primary poll numbers looking awful, Trey Grayson is not only trying to move to the far right, he's starting to directly go after Rand Paul. In the aftermath of Rand requesting to "meet with" Mitch McConnell, Rand answered that he doesn't know if he'd support Mitch McConnell as Minority Leader. This is after months and months of veiled swipes at McConnell for being such a big gubmit librul with the bailouts, and Grayson for being his little protege.

Grayson's response:
Florence, Kentucky – Secretary of State Trey Grayson commented today on an interview Rand Paul did with WHAS-11’s Joe Arnold in which Paul refused to say if he would support Mitch McConnell as Republican Leader of the U.

Trey Grayson running to the right

Because of his awful poll numbers against Rand Paul, Trey Grayson has decided that he now wants government control of your uterus even more than Rand Paul.
He also made his position on abortion clear: ”To me, life begins at conception, and abortion is murder.” He said he would support a federal ban on abortion.Nice, I look forward to asking Trey if he'd like to lock women away in jail for 30 years, or give them the death penalty. I also look forward to seeing him suck up to Frank Simon and Ken Ostrander.

It would be sad to see someone ditch his principles so much, if only it wasn't so damned entertaining.

It looks like KY Republicans can either vote for a Faux Conservative, or the White Male Liberty Patriot protecting us from the One World Government Illuminati and their Black Helicopters.

Buy stock in popcorn, Kentucky....

Polls, polls, polls...

Some crosstab madness from the SUSA polling goodness yesterday:

First, on the Republican primary side

Rand Paul- 35
Trey Grayson- 32
Other/Undecided- 33

Gender-wise, Paul leads 40-32 among Male Liberty Patriots, Grayson leads 33-29 among females.

Among young voters, Paul had a crazy-high advantage in the last SUSA poll, but now trails 43-40. Odd.

Among conservatives (69% of respondents), Paul leads 39-31, but is losing huge among moderates. This falls more in line with what I think will happen (the last SUSA was the opposite, if I recall correctly), as Rand Paul is much much much more conservative (both economically and socially) than Trey Grayson.

Regionally, Grayson takes Western KY and Louisville, while Paul takes Eastern, Central and Northern KY.

The Palin/Beck/Teabagger crowd's next victim

The extreme right-wing teabagger faction of the Republican Party just took down a moderate Republican in New York tonight, handing a Democrat their first win.... well, ever in the NY-23rd.
Josh Marshall wonders if Charlie Crist will be the the next candidate to feel the wrath of irrational teabaggers who will allow the Republican Party to slip even further into irrelevance. Possibly, but I still doubt it's likely.
The most likely major candidate to next feel the wrath of the teabagger brigade? Trey Grayson.
Which, of course, means that the Democratic Party picks up yet another seat in the US Senate.
The only thing I can tell you for sure is that there is NO OTHER STATE in the country that will have the political fireworks that Kentucky will have over the next 6 months. Of that, there is no doubt, kiddies.

November 3, 2009 - 03:26 pm

Let the KY Republican pie fight commence

Grab the popcorn, kiddies.

Trey Grayson fans call Rand Paul kooky, claim he supports legalizing heroin, cocaine and child porn, and doing away with the tyrannical oppression of Amber Alerts and the FDA (Paul is objectively pro-diarrhea, fyi)

White Male Liberty Patriots jump in the comments, ranting about Grayson's Bill Clinton love and him maintaining Obama's tyranny agenda.

Crazy feathers fly.

7 more months of this fun, to come.

PS: only one thing could make this more fun. A third pie thrower.

Trey Grayson employing mute robots

I, for one, welcome our new mute robotic overlords...

Just more evidence of the secret robotic insurrection of Trey Grayson.

Kim Geveden spins Mongiardo's awful Rasmussen numbers

Enjoy:
"The Rasmussen poll varies widely from two recent independent polls that show Daniel Mongiardo as the strongest Democrat against Republicans Trey Grayson or Rand Paul. No matter how you slice it, the General Election will be very competitive. The fundamental question for Democratic voters is do they want a Kentucky Democrat like Daniel Mongairdo who reflects their values and who will stand up and fight for Kentucky's working families or a silver spoon Democrat who represents out-of-state interests who neither share Kentucky's values or our priorities? We are confident which one Kentucky voters will choose."

Kim Geveden
Mongiardo U.S. Senate Campaign
The poll varies from the previous polls because those were before your campaign imploded with the "Fuck it all" video, Kim.

Rasmussen Poll: very bad news for Dan Mongiardo

Not only is Trey Grayson kicking his ass, but so is Rand Paul?
Grayson- 44%Mongiardo- 37%
Paul- 43%Mongiardo- 38%
Prettttty lame, Milhouse.
Meanwhile, Jack Conway fares much better:
Grayson- 40%Conway- 40%
Paul- 38%Conway- 42%
We all anxiously await Kim Geveden's spin on this one...

Fun with SUSA poll crosstabs on the Senate race

OK, let's look at the fun fun fun crosstabs of the SUSA poll out today.

First, the Republican side, where things suddenly look good for Teh Rand.

Among Republicans aged 18-34

Paul 43% (!!!)
Grayson 13% (!!!)

Wow. That's a hell of a lot of pot smoking libertarian kids on the Ron Rand train. Wonder if they'll remember when it's election day, though.

- SUSA actually found 10 black Republicans in KY.

- Moderate Republicans (where are they?) went much heavier for Grayson than conservative Republicans.

- Pro-choice Repubs went big for Grayson. We'll see about that...

Eastern KY
Grayson 25
Paul 31

(WTF?!?)

Western KY
Grayson 29
Paul 24

Overall, it looks like hardcore right-wingers aren't ready to anoint Senator Trey Grayson just yet.

SUSA poll goodies on KY 2010 Senate race

The results are trickling in, I'll post more as they come in. For now:

Dan Mongiardo: 39%
Jack Conway: 31%
Undecided or Other: 23%

Lt. Dan is up, but after 2 weeks of son-of-a-bitch-gate, this shows that his "20 point lead" in his internal push poll was a bad joke.

But the HUGE story of the poll is on the Republican side:

Trey Grayson: 37%
Rand Paul: 26%
O or U: 30%

Wowzer. I was NOT expecting this. Many expect a Grayson cakewalk in the primary, but if this poll is on the mark, this thing could turn into a real war.

More to come...
