Pingree picks up a set of endorsements

Democrat Chellie Pingree, the former State Senate Majority Leader and Common Cause president who is running for the First Congressional District seat, is announcing a set of endorsements of thirty-five current and former lawmakers.

“I am honored by the level of support I have found all across Maine’s First Congressional District. I hope that this initial list of supporters encourages others to join the campaign – this is a wonderful beginning, and I look forward to meeting more voters in 2008 and asking each and every one of them to support my candidacy,” said Pingree.

The endorsers include Senate Majority Leader Libby Mitchell of Vassalboro, former House Speaker Michael Saxl of Manchester, Representative Anne Rand of Portland, Congresswomen Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, and Congressman Rush Holt of New Jersey.
