Kucinich fans encouraged to continue their support

Although Dennis Kucinich has dropped out of the presidential race, supporters are still being encouraged to caucus for him.

After deep reflection, we as coordinators of the Maine Campaign for Dennis Kucinich are encouraging all those that had intended to stand for Dennis and his principled positions on Peace, Health Care for All, and Social Justice at their town caucus to remain committed and do so. Dennis Kucinich is not endorsing another candidate in the primary season. Caucusing for Kucinich is still our opportunity to tell the party and the other candidates that the Kucinich platform is the best hope for our nation and the world,” Maine coordinators Paul Cunningham and Jen Joaquin wrote in an e-mail to the Portland area Kucinich MeetUp group.

Supporter David Bright also wrote an e-mail to supporters, telling them not to vote for Edwards, as encouraged by some in the campaign.

“The purpose of a primary or caucus is for rank-and-file voters to tell the party leadership and the press/pundits which candidate best represents that voter's views. In a primary one should not worry about who one's party or another party might or might not nominate six months from now. When you leave the primary or caucus voting place you should be holding your head high, not feel like you've just had a colonoscopy from a used car dealer,” he wrote.
