R's and D's: Who won what county

Check out this map of caucus results, broken down by county.

Blue balloons represent the Democratic winners of the respective county. Dark blue bubbles represent Barack Obama, light blue bubbles represent Hillary Clinton.

Also see this map breaking down the various towns the two Democrats won.

Red, green and yellow balloons represent the first-place winner for the Republicans. Red bubbles represent Mitt Romney, yellow balloons represent John McCain and green balloons represent Ron Paul.

Push pins represent the second place winner for Republicans, with the same color scheme as above.

For the Democrats, Obama was the overall winner and carried most of the counties. Clinton pulled out wins in the rural Northern Maine counties of Aroostook, Piscataquis and Somerset. She also carried Androscoggin County, which is more populous.

Overall, Obama got 59 percent of the vote and Clinton got 40 percent.

For the Republican straw poll, Mitt Romney won and carried most counties. The exceptions were Aroostook County, which Ron Paul won, and Washington County, which John McCain won. Romney came in second in both of those counties.

Paul took second place in four counties – Androscoggin, Kennebec, Piscataquis and Waldo. McCain took second place in the remaining 10.

Mike Huckabee did not have any first or second place wins.

The overall percentages were: Romney – 51 percent; McCain – 22 percent and Ron Paul – 18 percent.

Mitt Romney has since dropped out of the race.
