Convention update: 3:00 p.m.

The Maine Republican Party National Committeeman and Committeewoman results are official. Former Senate President Richard Bennett and former committeewoman Jan Staples are the new RNC members.

Cal Thomas spoke earlier. Currently ballots are being tallied for the national delegate slots. State delegates got to pick 12 of about 30 nominees.

Of those, 13 support Ron Paul, according to a list that was handed out. The John McCain campaign handed out a list of 12 “Republican Unity candidates”.

Missing from the nominees for delegates is U.S. Sen. Susan Collins. The state’s two senators are traditionally elected delegates, however this year Collins expects to be campaigning in Maine, Collins’ staff said, so she wanted to let someone else have the slot.

As PolitickerME’s Wally Edge reported, this morning five of the district delegate slots went to McCain supporters, and one went to a Ron Paul supporter.

The party platform was discussed earlier, and most of the amendments proposed were knocked down. More details on this later.
