DENVER -- Jon “Bowzer” Bauman considers Maine Rep. Elaine Makas (D-Lewiston) one of his biggest supporters when it comes to passing his pet project, “The Truth In Music” Act.

Bauman was a member of the band Sha Na Na and was in the movie Grease.

The act makes it illegal for performers to impersonate famous acts to sell tickets. The law requires cover groups to make it clear that they are not the real deal.

Bauman is helping the effort, and last year came to Maine to promote the law. Makas supported the legislation and it passed.

The Truth in Music Act is far from the only reason Bauman is in Denver. Like many others, he said this is the most important election and wants to help Barack Obama and Joe Biden get elected.

Bauman said he also attended the 2004 convention.
