After speech, Denk hopes Jackson Jr. will follow Obama in Senate

After hearing Illinois Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s speech last night, Diane Denk, an alternate delegate for Barack Obama, hopes he will run for Obama’s Senate seat.

Jackson was one of many speakers last night at the Democratic National Convention.

“All of the speeches were absolutely brilliant…” Denk said. “Ted Kennedy was so vibrant, so robust. It was an exciting moment to see the old warhorse in action.”

Denk said she is from Illinois and used to be a peace activist. She moved to Maine in 2001, was active in the Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) presidential bid in 2004 and Gov. John Baldacci’s 2006 reelection bid. She is currently the chairwoman of the Kennebunk Democratic Town Committee and a member of the state Dental Board of Examiners.
