Dems: Palin pick ruins GOP’s experience argument (Updated)

The Maine Democratic Party says it is hypocritical that John McCain criticized opponent Barack Obama for his inexperience, then picking an inexperienced running mate.

John Knutson, chairman of the Maine Democratic Party, issued the following statement:

"In choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate, John McCain has brought into question the very premise of his candidacy. Palin, the former Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, population 9,000, has less than two years experience as Governor of Alaska, zero foreign policy experience, and is the subject of an ongoing ethics investigation. Her support for the failed Bush-Cheney energy policies and her record of raising taxes make her the wrong choice for Maine and for our country."

UPDATE: Maine Republican party chairman Mark Ellis responded:

“It is ironic Maine Democrats question John McCain’s Vice Presidential pick, Governor Sarah Palin. Palin is a tough executive who has spent her time in office fighting for reform and delivering results.  The same cannot be said of Barack Obama.  Almost all of Obama’s time in the Senate has been spent running for president.”
