Carly Fiorina, senior advisor to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, said that Hillary Clinton’s supporters are now giving serious thought to the Republican Presidential ticket.

Speaking to the Maine and Vermont delegations Tuesday morning, Fiorina said that both Clinton and McCain have a track record of bipartisanship.

“John McCain said he admires and respects Hillary Clinton,” Fiorina. “One of the first things she did was reach her hands across the aisle when she arrived in the U.S. Senate. They see a man with integrity and character. They see a man with experience and judgment.”

Fiorina said she met Sen. McCain through his association with economics. She said she was on Capitol Hill fighting legislation to tax the Internet. Then she was CEO of Hewlett Packard.

“I was there to speak with him about why it was a bad idea,” she said. “My meeting with Sen. McCain stood out in my mind then and for the years to follow. He was very focused on the issue. He understood the issue… It was very clear that he understood the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in our economy. He understood the role that government can play, either to accelerate or encourage the entrepreneurship, or to kill it.”

She told a few stories about McCain, including one where she saw him tear up while talking to a young man in the military.

“He treats everyone exactly the same,” Fiorina said, “With respect and extraordinary authenticity.”
