Ellis: Maine is competitive in presidential race

Mark Ellis, chairman of the Maine Republican Party, said today that he disagrees with a recent assessment on Stateline.org where political observer Charles Cook did not include Maine on the list of battleground states.

Maine is a battleground state in the presidential race, Ellis said.

Ellis said there are several people on the ground in the state working for presidential candidate John McCain. This includes Ben Gilman, chairman of Victory 08, and Pete Fullerton, deputy director. (Note: correction from previous post)
