Official photo.|link=none|align=left|width=150|height=221]The Maine Democratic State Committee and the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee have filed their latest round of independent expenditure reports.

As Wally points out, this is a good indicator of which races are most competitive.

All five candidates supported between the two committees are running with public funding under the Maine Clean Elections Act.

State committee expenditures:

The committee spent $4,690 on behalf of Sen. Peter Bowman (D-Kittery), who is challenged by former Sen. Mary Andrews (R-York). The entire sum was spent on mailings by Ourso Beychok Johnson, a political communications and direct mail firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Senate Democratic Campaign Committee:

This committee paid $2,603 to Call Center Services in El Segundo, California to phone bank for four Democratic challengers in Republican districts.

The phone banks supported:

  • Robert Stackpole (D-Sanford), challenging Sen. Jonathan Courtney (R-Sanford)
  • Deborah Simpson (D-Auburn), challenging Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello (R-Poland)
  • Seth Goodall (D-Richmond), challenging Sen. Paula Benoit (R-Phippsburg)
  • David Miramant (D-Camden), challenging Christopher Rector (R-Thomaston). This is an open seat being vacated by Sen. Christine Savage (R-Union).
