Politicker photo.|link=none|align=left|width=400|height=278]PALMYRA -- Cindy Michaels, a Bangor news anchor for WVII, had 15 minutes of fame that went international when the story broke that she received hate mail for looking like Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Michaels said there were positives and negatives to all the hype. On the plus side, she said, the Bangor television station got worldwide attention as hits on its Web site skyrocketed.
On the negative side, she said there were accusations that she was a biased, unprofessional journalist – simply because she wore her hair up like Palin.
Since the story ran, she said she still wears her hair up – despite allegations that she is trying to sway voters through her appearance.
Saturday Michaels covered a Todd Palin rally in Palmyra, where the husband of the vice presidential candidate addressed about 600 people outside the Moosehead Trail Trading Post. She said she got a few comments there, and got Todd Palin to sign a photo that displayed her side by side with the candidate.
