Campaign trail blog: Maine energy systems

Today PolitickerME.com is live blogging from the Collins for Senator bus. We’re trailing Sen. Susan Collins as she visits Northern Oxford County. We spent a half day with her challenger, U.S. Rep. Tom Allen, Thursday, and anticipate spending another half day with him soon.

Politicker photo.|link=none|align=left|width=250|height=333]BETHEL -- There are two endeavors going on at Maine Energy Systems that piqued the interest of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins today.

MES distributes automated wood-pellet-fired home heating systems. Right now they are in lobbying the state to implement a tax credit for people who choose to implement the energy-efficient technology.

Collins has already worked on the issue, and successfully got a provision in the financial rescue package to provide a $300 tax credit for those buying new clean burning wood stoves.

MES is also marketing an indoor golf game, where players hit a ball off a tee and the software calculates where it would land depending on the club and the swing, and the result shows up on a screen.

Collins, who is not a golfer, tried the game out. The video is below.
