Campaign trail blog: Allen in Skowhegan

PolitickerME.com is on the trail with U.S. Rep. Tom Allen (D-Portland) and former Sen. George Mitchell as they make four stops in Waterville, Skowhegan, Portland and Lewiston. Allen is challenging U.S. Sen. Susan Collins for her seat this year.

SKOWHEGAN – U.S. Rep. Tom Allen (D-Portland) made a quick stop in Skowhegan to address a worker’s roundtable.

His remarks were brief, as he emphasized his economic policies.

“Maine is a small business, middle class state, and Mainers need a real middle class tax cut. We need to help middle class families trying to take care of their kids and their families.”

He admitted that he was from Portland, “but I represent all of Maine,” he said.

At that point, former Sen. George Mitchell took over the forum. Allen apologized for having to leave. He had to scoot down to Portland for a press conference to address a negative ad by his opponent, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Bangor).
