Targeted legislative races for independent expenditure spending

As follows are the top Republicans and Democrats targeted by independent expenditure spending.

The dollar figure represents the total amount spent on behalf of the candidate mentioned combined with the funds spent in opposition to his or her opponent.

If the candidate’s opposition is running under the Clean Elections Act, then he or she is entitled to matching funds.

 

Top 5 state Senate Democratic candidates:

1) $61,820 Deborah Simpson (D-Auburn), running against Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello (R-Poland). Funds came from the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee, the Maine Democratic Party, the Maine People’s Alliance, the Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund and Maine Friends of animals.

2) $41,370 Sen. Peter Bowman (D-Kittery), who is running against Mary Andrews (R-York). Funds are from the Senate Democratic Campaign Committeee, the Maine Democratic Party, the Maine People’s Alliance, Equality Maine PAC, Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund,

3) $41,072 David Miramant (D-Camden), running against Christopher Rector (R-Thomaston). Funds are from the Maine Democratic Party, the Senate Democratic campaign committee and the Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund.

4) $39,963 Seth Goodall (D-Richmond), running against Sen. Paula Benoit (R-Phippsburg). Funds are from the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee, the Maine Democratic Party and the Maine Conservation Voters Action Fund. ($3,948 has been spent on Benoit.)

5) $33,907 Robert Stackpole (D-Sanford), running against Sen. Jon Courtney (R-Sanford). Funds are from the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee and the Maine Democratic Party.

 

Top 5 state Senate Republican candidates

1) $40,333 Andrews, who is running against Bowman. Funds are from the Maine Prosperity PAC, the Maine Republican Party, the Maine Senate Republican Committee and the Maine Truck PAC.

2) $30,143 Rector, who is running against Miramant. Funds are from the Maine Republican Party, the Maine Prosperity PAC, and the Maine Senate Republican Committee

3) $19,293 Snowe-Mello, who is running against Simpson. Funds are from the Maine Prosperity PAC, the Maine Republican Party, the Maine Senate Republican Committee and the Maine Truck PAC.

4) $9,399 Phil Csoros (R-Gorham), who is running against Sen. Phil Bartlett (D-Gorham). Funds are from the Maine Republican Party and the Maine Senate Republican Committee. (No IE funds have been spent on Bartlett.)

5) $8,267 Courtney, who is running against Stackpole. Funds are from the Maine Republican Party and the Maine Senate Republican Committee.

1) $5,850 Brian Kaenrath (D-South Portland), running against Kevin Glynn (R-South Portland). $727 has been spent on Glynn.

2) $4,866 Ben Pratt (D-Eddington), running against Steve Juskewitch (R-Dedham). There has been no IE spending for Juskewitch.

3) $4,500 Sean Flaherty (D-Scarborough), running against Rep. John McDonough (R-Scarborough). There has been no IE spending for McDonough.

4) $4,500 Robert Hunt (D-Buxton), running against Rep. Don Marean (R-Hollis). There has been no IE spending for Marean.

5) $4,500 Mark Eves (D-North Berwick), running against Rep. Bonnie Gould (R-North Berwick). $1,117 has been spent on Gould.

6) $4,500 Roberta Beavers (D-South Berwick), running against Rep. Sarah Lewin (R-Eliot). $2,422 has been spent on Lewin.

7) $4,400 Veronica Magnan (D-Stockton Springs), running against Ken Lindell (R-Frankfort).

4) $2,442 Wayne Parry (R-Arundel), running against Gary Connor (D-Kennebunk). $3,278 has been spent on Connor.

5) $2,422 Rep. Lewin, running against Beavers.

6) $2,378 Susan Austin (R-Gray), running against Graham.

7) $2,300 Richard Malaby (R-Hancock), running against Rep. Robert Eaton (D-Sullivan). $2,700 has been spent on Eaton.

8) $2,121 Rep. Jayne Crosby Giles (R-Belfast), running against Harold Haliday (D-Belfast). There have been no IE spending on Haliday.
