Sagadahoc County

House District 60 – Leans Republican: Incumbent Kerri Prescott (R-Topsham), who just completed her first term, has a tough challenger in Denise Tepler (D-Topsham). Prescott won by 248 votes – a narrow yet solid margin. The Democrats have made one small independent expenditure in this race, the Republicans haven’t made any, though Prescott is backed by the Maine Truck PAC. This indicates that this is a seat the Republicans are confident in. It is also one the Democrats would like to have, but it is not a top priority. Prescott has the advantage, but it will be a fight.

House District 62 – Safe Democrat: Incumbent Thomas Watson (D-Bath) won his third term by 775 votes, and shouldn’t have a problem winning his fourth term against Donald Rogers (R-Bath).

H.D. 64 – Safe Democrat: Incumbent Leila Percy (D-Phippsburg) has a name that’s well known in her district, and she is well known in the Legislature for her singing voice. In 2006 she won by more than 1,000 votes, and will easily win a fourth term against Chester Garrison (R-West Bath).

H.D. 65 – Leans Democrat: Incumbent Carol Grose (D-Woolwich) is leaving the seat, leaving an open race for Peter Kent (D-Woolwich) and Susan Wasserott (R-Woolwich). Wasserott lost to Grose in 2006 by about 600 votes, so she starts the race with some name recognition. It is a Democratic district, however, and Kent is running strong. The Democrats have targeted the race, with $2,700 in independent expenditures. The Republicans haven’t put any money into the race, although the Maine Truck PAC has made expenditures on behalf of Wasserott.

H.D. 67 – Safe Democrat: Incumbent Seth Berry (D-Bowdoinham) won his first term easily in 2006 by 680 votes. After a strong first term, he’s eyeing leadership. In this Democratic district, he shouldn’t have trouble beating Eric Dickey (R-Richmond).
