DAMARISCOTTA -- U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe said she would not serve in a President John McCain or President Barack Obama cabinet if asked.
“I’m happy where I am,” she told PolitickerME.com Thursday afternoon as she toured the Damariscotta Main Street with 1st Congressional District candidate Charlie Summers (R-Scarborough) and state Senate candidate David Trahan (R-Waldoboro).
Politicker.com’s James Pindell suggested earlier today that it would be a good strategy for Obama, if elected, to select Snowe as a cabinet member. In that case, Gov. John Baldacci would more than likely pick a Democrat to replace her – possibly growing their majority to 60.
Snowe also denied a widespread rumor that she would be retired in 2012, and that Baldacci was eyeing her seat. It’s too early to decide what she will do four years from now, she said, and she has no way of knowing what Baldacci’s plans are.
