Collins: ‘I’m looking forward to 6 more years

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins has just claimed victory in her re-election bid against U.S. Rep. Tom Allen.

“Our nation faces so many serious challenges. It is going to require working across party lines and putting aside partisan politics to solve our problems. That’s what I’ve done, and that’s what I pledge to do,” she said.

“It’s such an honor to represent the state of Maine in the U.S. Senate. When I see the capital lilt up at night, I always remember the trust that the people of Maine have given me. I’ve worked so hard for you each and every day.”

She thanked her staff and all her supporters.

“You are truly a great team. To all of you who stuffed envelopes, did research, voted and donated, thank you. I look forward to serving you for six more years in the U.S. Senate.”
