NYT reader poll: Collins 3rd choice for cabinet job

The New York Times launched this poll Tuesday asking readers who their pick would be for cabinet positions under president-elect Barack Obama.

For Homeland Security secretary, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Bangor) was the third choice, getting about one-fifth of that votes of the first choice, Richard Clarke.

The Times did not specify how many voted.

CNN is also listing Collins as a possibility for the job, along with former Rep. Tim Roemer (D-Indiana), Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), and Clarke, a former counterterrorism czar under President Clinton.

Clarke also served under Bush in the early years of his presidency.

Collins won reelection to a third term last week, and has told PolitickerME.com that she is not interested in the job.
