Pingree: Obama cabinet feels like ‘adults are back in charge’

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - Congresswoman-elect Chellie Pingree said Thursday that she has been impressed by President-elect Barack Obama's selections for his cabinet.

"It seems like the adults are back in charge, honestly," Pingree told Politicker.com. "I have to tell you, as someone who has waiting a long time for the change in administration it feels a lot like we've put a completely different group of people in charge who, at least in the short run, we're going to have a lot of confidence in their ability to do this."

Pingree holds off Cote in convincing Democratic primary win

With 73 percent of precincts reporting, Pingree leads Cote 44 percent to 26 percent.

Meister says money played large role in loss

PORTLAND -- Stephen Meister, the Winthrop pediatrician and Democratic Congressional candidate, said there is one major reason he was never able to catch his competition: money.

"It comes down in the end to money," Meister said. "The television commercials and the radio commercials take hundreds of thousands of dollars and they make a huge difference."

Meister is expected to finish last in the six-way race in the Democratic primary for Maine's first congressional seat tonight. He will likely finish with less than 2 percent of the vote.
