Naval Yards Firefighters endorse Lawrence in 1st District

Just before the primary, local firefighters endorsed York County District Attorney Mark Lawrence in his bid to be the Democratic Party's candidate in the 1st Congressional District.

The International Association of Firefighters, Local F-123, which represents firefighters at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, announced their support for the candidate last Tuesday. Lawrence's father, Irving, worked at the shipyard as a welder for over 38 years.

With Clinton out, Baldacci shifts support to Obama

Following the suspension of the [presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Gov. John Baldacci (D-Bangor) threw his support behind U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who secured enough delegate support last week to become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Baldacci had previously endorsed Clinton in her race to become the Democratic Party's nominee for president.

Extreme Makeover: Maine Democrats edition

The Maine Democratic Party campaign organization, Victory 2008, revealed its new look yesterday with a completely revamped logo, slogan, and website.

Seeking to "capture the spirit of change," Maine Democrats switched their slogan to "change begins with me in Maine" and opted for a logo with a twist on the words Maine Democratic Party: the ‘e' in "Democratic" is backwards.

Medical associations endorse Meister

In a crowded Democratic race for Maine's 1st Congressional District, Steve Meister has nabbed the endorsements of both the Maine Medical Political Action Committee and the American Medical Political Action Committee.

In addition to the support from the two medical associations, over 50 Maine physicians have endorsed Meister's congressional bid.
