A closer look at Maine's Senate District 22

Senate District 22 will likely be an important district in the state Senate race for both Democrats and Republicans.

Incumbent Sen. Christine Savage (R-Union) is termed out. State Reps. David Miramant (D-Camden) and Christopher Rector (R-Thomaston) are competing for the seat.

Both Republicans and Democrats have held the seat in the past.

THOMASTON -- Two state representatives are vying for Senate District 22, being vacated by Sen. Christine Savage (R-Union).

Rep. Christopher Rector (R-Thomaston) faces Rep. David Miramant (D-Camden). Rector is an art publisher serving his third term. Miramant is a pilot serving his first term.

Miramant, Rector to challenge each other for Senate seat

Two Knox County representatives will face each other for a state Senate seat.

Third-term Rep. Christopher Rector, R-Thomaston, and first-term Rep. David Miramant, D-Camden are running for the seat being vacated by Sen. Christine Savage, R-Union, who is termed out.

Election results in recent years have been close. In 2006, Savage beat Rockland Democrat Scott Barrows 8,845 to 7,995.
