Collins gossips about Edwards on radio show

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins believes that former presidential candidate and Sen. John Edwards (D-North Carolina) did have a child out of wedlock, according to her comments on a recent Q Morning Show interview.

Edwards recently admitted to having an affair.

The radio hosts brought up the topic before addressing energy and health care issues.

Another poll, another advantage for Collins

The latest Critical Insights poll has given incumbent U.S. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Bangor) a 10-point advantage over her Democratic challenger, U.S. Rep. Tom Allen.

The numbers are as follows: Collins, 50 percent; Allen, 40 percent; Undecided, 9 percent; and refused, 1 percent. They were about the same in the 1st and 2nd congressional districts.

Independent candidate Herb Hoffman was not an option on the poll.

Following Edwards’ endorsement, Michaud remains uncommitted

U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud endorsed John Edwards early in the presidential campaign.

When Edwards dropped out, Michaud entered vast realm of “uncommitted superdelegates”, the subject of virtually every pundit debate and a buzz word in political circles.

Following Edwards’ endorsement of Barack Obama, Michaud has decided to remain uncommitted.

U.S. Rep. Tom Allen endorsed Obama on Monday, helping to put him in the lead with superdelegates.

Survey results: Views on politics and the media

PolitickerME surveyed 88 random people about their political views and attitudes toward the media during last weekend’s rallies and caucuses.

Of them, 29 were Hillary Clinton supporters, 46 were Barack Obama supporters, and 13 did not specify a preferred candidate.

Surveys were handed out at the Hillary Clinton rally in Orono, the Barack Obama rally in Bangor, the Bangor caucus and the Augusta caucus. This survey was geared toward Democrats. We will administer a survey for Republicans at a later date.

New Page troubles put spotlight on Edwards, trade policy

New Page officials announced today that they are shutting down the #11 paper machine at the Rumford mill, and with it goes about 60 jobs.

Today’s news has people talking about trade policy, as they make their picks for a presidential candidate. Many union workers favor John Edwards.

New Page closed paper machines in Maine, Wisconsin and Ohio. Most of the 660 job cuts were in Wisconsin.

Baldacci endorses Clinton

Gov. John Baldacci has officially endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“It will take a leader with Hillary’s strength and experience to bring the change that America needs,” he said this weekend in a statement. “She will be ready to lead on her first day in office.”

Baldacci is the eighth governor to endorse Clinton.
