Now I know that there are conservatives that really believe in their ideology, but people like Rush Limbaugh, that have great influence, can and often do say things which they don't believe, they are just paid to do so. In much the same way that union member Vincent Curatola acted in an anti-union ad.
They themselves will likely never be affected by the draconian laws that they will help enact, since their money allows them access to services that regular people cannot afford. Hypocrite does not begin to describe them, and I doubt that they spend much time in self-delusion justifying their actions.
It's all about the money.
