Convention update: 10:45 p.m.

The convention floor is clear and delegates have disbursed to the various parties – all of which started three hours late.

Before the final speaker came out, convention chair Beth Edmonds announced the final delegate tally – 15 delegates from Maine will represent Barack Obama in Denver, and nine will represent Hillary Clinton. The results of all the other votes – for national delegate slots and DNC members – will be announced tomorrow.

Bangor protesters acquitted

Six anti-war protesters arrested at Susan Collins’ Bangor office last year were acquitted of criminal trespassing charges in Penobscot County Superior court Wednesday, the Bangor Daily News is reporting.

On Tuesday, U.S. Senate candidates Tom Ledue, a Democrat, and Laurie Dobson, an independent, spoke at a rally in support of those arrested.

Allen, who represents Maine’s First Congressional District in Congress, is challenging incumbent Susan Collins for her Senate seat.

Allen refuses debate with primary opponent

U.S. Rep. Tom Allen has refused to two debates with primary challenger Tom Ledue.

Allen and Ledue are both running for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. The winner will challenge U.S. Sen. Susan Collins in November.

Allen, the well-known candidate, has been campaigning since last year. Ledue, the long shot candidate, jumped in the race in January.

Ledue said he is running to encourage conversations that Allen wasn’t bringing up.

Ledue appeals to supporters

The campaign for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tom LeDue, running against the heavily-favored Tom Allen, is out with a fundraising appeal today.

“Tom's schedule will be jam-packed with talks, stops, and events through to the victory celebration! His car gets great mileage and the campaign runs on a very tight budget - making monumental gains with every penny!” the campaign says in an email to supporters.
