Neville calls 2008 'different from conventions of the past'

DENVER – At-Large delegate Mary Jo Neville says she sees a stark contrast between the 2008 Democratic National Convention and prior conventions, but it doesn’t seem to have much to do with the so-called historic nature of this cycle.

“It’s very different from conventions of the past,” Neville told PolitickerMD.com.

Neville – who is attending her seventh convention – pointed to the arduous nature of getting around.

“Transportation is a nightmare,” she said. It’s “very confusing when you come out [of the Pepsi Center] at night.”

Despite the logistical challenges, Neville did say she was still having a great time, pointing to how impressed she was by a speech U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Baltimore) delivered at the Denver Botanic Gardens on Tuesday. She enjoyed Mikulski’s “Checklist for Change” address at Tuesday’s convention, but said Mikulski was “a little bit subdued from the speech she gave from lunch yesterday.”
