[img_assist|nid=3211|title=Speaker Michael Busch (D-Annnapolis)|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=180|height=252]DENVER – It is the third day of the Democratic National Committee Convention, but the plane carrying state House Speaker Michael E. Busch (D-Annapolis) only touched down this afternoon.

“I’m excited about being on the floor tonight,” he told PolitickerMD.com, shortly after arriving.

Though Busch has been tuned into the convention via television, and said he was impressed by U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy’s Monday address.

“Kennedy I thought was excellent,” he said. “Kind of passing the baton to Barack Obama and Joe Biden and the Democratic Party of the day.”

He is also looking forward to seeing former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) speak.

On the message, Busch does not think the convention’s speakers have been going too soft on presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

“There’ll be an opportunity for vetting McCain as the election goes forward. I think we’re coming out here with a unified voice for the Democratic Party.”

In his estimation, Democrats are “concentrating on our own political base as Republicans try to throw in a lot of political hand grenades.”
