For Lee, 2008 convention introduces America to Obama personally

DENVER - State Del. Susan Lee (D-Bethesda) is pointing to the importance of properly painting Barack Obama’s public image as a key goal of the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

“I think this convention provided an opportunity for the American citizens to see not only what our party is about but what Barack Obama and his family’s like,” Lee told PolitickerMD.com at the Renaissance Denver Hotel during a morning reception. Lee is an add-on delegate for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY).

“There was a lot of emphasis on who the candidate is, where he came from, his background, his family and particularly with Michelle Obama,” she said. “They got to know her.”

Lee called the 2008 convention unique compared to the other two she has attended.

“This convention has been different from other conventions,” said Lee. “The line of speakers. They were so diverse.”
