When will Steele speak?

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Maryland's former lieutenant governor has had his speaking slot at the Republican National Convention blown around like a leaf in the wind. Michael Steele has now had his speech moved three times.

Steele was originally scheduled to speak Tuesday evening as the last speaker before primetime. He was then moved to Monday before being moved back to Tuesday.

Now Steele's speech has been moved yet again. This time there are no details as to when he might actually take the podium.

Steele has been an active surrogate for John McCain in recent weeks. His name was even kicked around as a potential running mate for McCain before Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) landed the No. 2 spot on the ticket.

Steele served as then-Gov. Bob Ehrlich's second in command from 2002 to 2006 and currently is the chair of GOPAC.

He made an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate in 2006 against now-U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Baltimore).
