Post: FBI launches investigations into state Sen. Exum

[img_assist|nid=3563|title=State Sen. Nathaniel Exum|desc=Official Photo|link=none|align=right|width=180|height=250]The FBI has launched investigations into Democratic state Sen. Nathaniel Exum's relationship with a Prince George's County-based automobile repair shop, according to The Washington Post.

At issue is Exum's advocacy for Hilltop Fleet Services - a Capital Heights repair shop, which had its license revoked in 2002 after state police suspected the company had issued more inspection certificates than vehicles the shop could inspect.

Reports also suggest Exum actively lobbied the governor's office on the matter. In March, the state police superintendent reissued the license arguing there was no clear policy as to when licenses should be reinstated. The state police superintendant said he was not ordered to do so by the governor's office.

Exum said he was not aware of any FBI investigations. "I don't have anything to say about that," he told The Post.
